More to Dieting Than Diet

Traditionally, when someone says they’re going to ‘go on a diet,’ they mean they’re going to change their eating habits. They may be changing their eating habits in an effort to lose weight, improve their overall health or just feel better about themselves. Whatever the reasons, the action are the same. Changes made to their daily food intake have some type of impact on their physical appearance.
To effectively lose weight and keep it off, a person must change much more than their daily diet. A proper weight loss program will implement changes to your daily food and drink intake as well as an exercise program. The simple addition of fruits, vegetables and water to your daily diet will help improve your overall health. Fruits and vegetables not only add vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy body; they also add the required fiber to help cleanse and detoxify your digestive tract.
Before you begin any weight loss or exercise routine, you should consult your physician to ensure you are not taking any unnecessary health risks. Your doctor can even recommend a diet and exercise program suited to your specific needs. It is also very important that you do not fall for fad diets or crash diets. Tricking your body into fast weight loss is not healthy and never doctor recommended.
If you have tried several diets and still can’t seem to get rid of those extra, pesky pounds, you may benefit from a colon cleanse. The colon can hold up to 35 pounds of unwanted waste and toxins. These extra pounds of waste products could be all that stands between you and your goal weight. There are many options for a healthy colon cleanse, from dietary to herbal remedies.
A dietary colon cleanse generally consists of the addition of fiber rich foods. For example, increase your daily fiber intake to 25-30 grams. Foods like whole grains, long-grain rice, fruits and green leafy vegetables are very high in fiber. Drinking eight to ten glasses of water per day will also help keep bowel movements normal and flush unwanted toxins from your body. Maintaining a well balanced diet is the key to maintaining a healthy body and weight.
Herbs are a very good way to mildly cleanse the colon. Herbal colon cleansing may consist of a variety of herbs including aloe, ginger and senna to stimulate bowel movements. Bitter plant herbs like barberry and fennel help cleanse the liver by promoting the flow of bile. Herbs like garlic and fennel also help cleanse the colon by killing harmful bacteria. Colon cleansing herbs often come in the form of kits from most health stores.
These are only two examples of healthy, natural colon cleansing techniques. Discuss other options with your physician to ensure you make the right decision for your body. What ever colon cleansing option you choose, be sure to drink plenty of non-carbonated water. Drinking sufficient amounts of water is essential for weight loss and in maintaining a healthy colon.

Tips on a Homemade Colon Cleansing Diet for Weight Loss

What in the world does a homemade colon cleansing diet have to do with weight loss? Frankly, a whole darn lot! Just think about it for a minute. If you’re full of it you can be retaining body waste and holding fluid. A good cleansing of your colon will work miracles in the way you feel and help get rid of a few extra pounds. This article will provide you with some tips that will help you out.

Colon cleansing diets have the aim of refreshing and cleaning out your colon and other parts of your insides. The positive effect this has on your body is measured in several different ways.

1st. You’ll find yourself having more energy. As all that horrible debris is cleared from your body it makes you feel amazingly energized.

2nd. You will notice your skin looking clearer and more alive. You will have your loved ones asking you what you have done with yourself.

3rd.  You will reduce the bloating in your lower belly area. In fact that new pair of tight jeans will go on easier and look better.

4th. You will lose weight fast.

This is the flow on effect from cleansing your colon.

Colon cleansing may be undertaken through a thorough cleansing action, such as pills or an enema. In addition you can accomplish this through dieting. The second option is much less intrusive than the first and often; more effective. Meanwhile, while dieting you will be treating your entire body, mind and inner being to a healthier you.

There are some important things to remember when going on a homemade colon cleansing diet. These include:

- Drink at least 8 (8oz), preferably more, glasses of water per day. Spring or filtered water is better than tap water.- Drinking fruit and vegetable shakes is a great way to stave off hunger.- Eliminate dairy products – they are something to avoid when cleansing the body.- Cut out red meat entirely or reduce your intake to 6 oz. or less. Meat is the major factor in the build up of toxins in the body. A good substitute for the red meat is chicken or fish.

Steamed vegetables and fruit ideally should make up 90% of your colon cleansing diet. Steamed vegetables retain more nutrients than other ways of cooking vegetables which can often cook out the goodness. Raw vegetables are however the best, although sometimes not the tastiest, way to consume vegetables.

So what other symptoms can colon cleansing assist with? You may be surprised to learn about how many minor symptoms are caused by matter built up in the colon. This may include:

• Headaches• Tiredness• Back ache• Constipation• Abdominal pain• Bloating• Depression• Weight gain or loss• Insomnia• Acne

All of the above symptoms can benefit from a homemade colon cleansing diet.

Today’s dietary trend of high fat foods is rather different to what humans were eating 100 years ago, but our bodies have not changed. This results in the body rejecting much of the food we eat and excessive build up in the colon is one negative result of this.

After completing your homemade colon cleansing diet you must stick to a permanently healthy diet to retain colon and digestive health. As always when implementing a new change to your body it is always best to check with your medical doctor prior to taking the action.

The Amount of Weight Loss on the Master Cleanse Diet

The master cleanse diet, also known as either the lemonade diet or the maple syrup diet, is a type of fasting detox cleanse that has caught the attention of both the celebrity and natural health world. Although primarily a detox diet, the master cleanse is also known for creating extreme amounts of weight loss up to 40 lbs in as little as a couple weeks. So is this much weight loss safe and if so, is the weight loss long term? These are questions asked by many and rightfully so.
These are the ways people lose weight on the Master Cleanse Diet:
1. Water weight – The master cleanse was designed to detox the body and flush “excess” amounts of fluid out of the body. A significant part of the weight loss is due to the loss of water weight. Depending on your views this may be good or bad. On one end, losing too much water is harmful, while on the other, it allows your body to shed the excess amounts in addition to excess salts and other things that make us feel bloated.
2. Loss of proteins and muscle weight – During the master cleanse, since no protein is ingested, some muscle mass is lost. Again, this is a common happening when it comes to fasting and detoxification as proteins in large amounts can be dangerous. You will often excert yourself like normally only not taking in any proteins or fats, and pretty much relying on a limited and scaled amount of carbs. This makes you lose muscle mass, but it also tones the body significantly. Remember, detoxification and fasting is all about breaking down and starting fresh, then building yourself back up afterwards.
3. Fats – It is without a doubt that you will burn a significant portion of fat from the body. Since your calorie intake is extremely restricted, you will much more fat that you would normally. Your body will start to use its reserve fats in order to maintain energy, thus toning and thinning the body. This may become dangerous if your body loses too much fat as it is needed for proper bodily function, so many times ten to twenty days is more than enough for some rather than fourty for others. Generally speaking this is a ten day cleanse.
Now how to maintain weight loss after the cleanse:
It may be easier than you think. Since flushing your system, often times people have completely different cravings then they would have before the cleanse. It is also recommended that one gets a guide in order to lose and maintain the weight loss throughout the master cleanse diet and thereafter. Also keep in mind that you need to surround yourself with foods that won’t put you in the same position as you were before. Take all those processed foods out, take all the additive-containing foods out. Give them to your neighbor, and re-stock the fridge with raw, unproccessed foods. This will help you continue to maintain weightloss after the cleanse. Keep in mind, water weight may be gained back, but otherwise you are in complete control of any other types of weight gain.
